History:

Nicholas Packaging is proud to remain a family owned and run business over two generations. 2024 serves up a significant landmark for us as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. The now retired founders started Nicholas Packaging back in 1974. In those days the packaging scene was very different to where we find ourselves today. Gary and Marilyn began by delivering packaging materials from their garage using an old pick-up truck, delivering mainly to butchers and similar small meat producers.

They quickly grew out of the garage and moved into their first warehouse in 1977. Gary often refers to “pest control back then” as being a mouse trap with a piece of cheese. How times have changed!!

Over the years the company grew from strength to strength. This coincided with the introduction of thermoformed trays while they were still in their infancy, which was a new proposition to retailers at the time. We created and adapted ideas from conversation to design, manufactured and on to the retailers’ shelves. Innovation and service was, and still is, a big part of our foundations.

Fast forward to today and we now operate a much larger, modern, centrally located warehouse facility with BRC accreditation and our own fleet of Euro 6 delivery vehicles. We have our own dedicated high speed manufacturing facility with the capability to produce containers made from in-house extruded recycled PET. We’ve experienced many changes over the years, and part of that evolution has been adding paper-based products to our range. In-line carton board cut and folding machines help to develop exciting new solutions in these markets.

Lee, the son of Gary and Marilyn, and his wife Natalie now head up the team, steadfastly implementing the company values and its loyalty to both customers and employees alike. We would like to thank everyone involved in the last 50 years’ success and may the next 50 years hold more of the same (yes, with better pest control Gary!).
